Panipat is an ancient Indian city with immense historic importance in the state of Haryana. The historic city is located on GT Road and shares a boundary with Karnal, Jind, Sonipat districts of Haryana. Though the history of Panipat began during the era of Mahabharata, yet it gained prime importance because of the three famous blood shedding battles that took place in 1526, 1556 and 1761. In present times, Panipat has earned its name because of textile and carpet industries.
Adventure Activities:- This wonderful tourist attraction in the state of Haryana is dotted with eye-catching historic evidences of various periods. People not only come here to catch a glimpse of the monuments or tombs, but also the enjoy myriads of adventure activities. You will find some amazing camping and adventure sports near Tikkar Lake. More so, Shimla is very close to Panipat, which is known for the core zone of adventure activities.
How to reach:- Though the city stands in Haryana district, yet it also borders the neighbouring state Uttar Pradesh on east. The communication means are excellent and not time-consuming.
People availing flight to reach Noida will require to get down at IGI Airport (22Km) or Kheria Airport, Agra (162Km).The nearest airport is IGI Airport (New Delhi) only 86 Km from Panipat, while the next shortest distant Airport is Chandigarh Airport (148Km).
Indian Railways provide regular train to this historic place. Panipat Junction is the home station of the place.
Regular busses are there from Panipat to other major cities. However, if you wish to drive to Panipat then you can drive from Haridwar (156Km), Shimla (271Km), Aligarh (231Km), New Delhi (98Km), Jalandhar (285Km), etc.
